Five
Card Stud is similar to Seven
Card Stud except ye only get five cards, one dealt face-down and the
other four dealt face-up.
Another variation is that ye are dealt two hole cards and three open cards
with no community cards. When playing Five Card Stud, a pair or even a
high card often wins.
To begin all players must put in an ante bet. The round then opens by
the dealer giving each player a hole card. Then the dealer gives all
the players one open card. Following this initial deal, it is time to
start the betting. The betting is started by the player showing the highest
open card, then the players take turns going around the table in a clockwise
direction. Each player will be given the option to raise, call or fold.
Once the betting is over, a third card (3rd street) is
dealt to each player who has not folded, as an open card. Once
this third card has been dealt to all remaining players then it is time
fer another round of betting. Once again the
player with the best open cards showing will start the betting and the
betting will continue in a clockwise direction until there are no more
bets made. Next we advance to 4th street where each player
is dealt yet another open card. The betting process is repeated. The final
card (5th street) is dealt. This card can be either an open card or a
hole card. It is up to the dealer. Following this fifth card
being dealt, a final round of betting will begin. When the bets are
over, the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. Go
